Winter Grandma Camp

FEBRUARY.

It's the worst month of the year.

It feels like we've been prisoners in the house for months. That's because, well -- we've been prisoners in the house for months...ugh...

Winter in Iowa is brutal. And long. The days are dark and dreary.

The snow still on the ground -- which was so soft and fluffy when it first floated down -- has been freezing and thawing for 3 months now.  It's been pushed into dirty, gravel filled cement/ice piles. Get too close, and they'll rip off your car bumper....

After three months of constant FREEZING and THAWING...there are patches of visible grass...but, just when you think it's okay to walk out....OHHH...NOOOO.....it's ICE, PEOPLE...slippery as snot...ugh...

DANGER...DANGER...DANGER...DON'T GO OUT THERE...!!

Fortunately, I have some pretty good indoor-Grandma-game....

Thanks to Uncle Ross -- Warren has his amazing Lego Table
He spends hours building his Lego masterpieces.
Entire villages
Skyscrapers,even...
While Warren is Legoing -- Lilly reads books. Every weekend, we watch movies, we play board games -- and WE GO TO THE YMCA..!!
This has become their #1 favorite thing to do.  I carry all our swim gear in the trunk of my car. So, we can go swimming at any time, without advance planning.  Because I travel with a HUGE supply of swimsuits, towels, goggles, balls...
Lilly loves to punch in...
These kids are NEVER HAPPIER than when they are in that pool!!
Hey -- it's GOOD FOR GRANDMA, too!! But, the thing is -- we always work up an appetite!!
Even in a restaurant, Warren turns it into a Lego build
We love the half-price Appetizers...and have our favorite places to go.
And, of course -- our favorite games!!
