Mississippi River Distillery

I belong to a local business group -- the Quad City PR Network. They have monthly meetings with excellent speakers and I always learn something.

Last month -- they had their meeting in the always beautiful LeClaire, Iowa. At the Mississippi River Distillery. This is SO FASCINATING to me.

Ryan Burchette (here -- giving the tour) was the meteoroligist for the local NBC affiliate. Then he and his engineer brother decided to do something that hasn't been done since the days of prohibition...They woke up one morning and said, "Let's make some vodka!"

Getting the tour of their facility -- and learning about their marketing -- was fascinating. They buy the corn from local farmers....and they've "named" their booze. "River Pilot Vodka" and "River Rose Gin". They have a beautiful tasting room -- with a stunning river view...

I'm telling you -- these marketing classes can be exhausting events...

They have lots of wall space -- and it would be expensive to buy art. So they decided to turn their building into a gallery. So a different artist hangs a new exhibition every six weeks. And there is a "gallery opening"...

Which would include, of course, another gin taste test....

GENIUS, people -- simply GENIUS...

I didn't buy any art....but by all accounts -- the vodka is EXCELLENT...

Yes...it's true...I love my job....
