DeWitt Tunes in Town

DeWitt, Iowa is a friendly little town about 20 minutes away. Like many small towns, they have a summer concert schedule. Their Tunes in Town happens every Tuesday in June, July and August.

John's buddy, Don, didn't miss a week all summer -- he's one of the most popular guys on the dance floor.
Don picks John up every single Tuesday and Thursday. They go for breakfast at the Corner Market -- then back to Don's house for a couple of hours of Karaoke (he has 125,000 songs on his laptop).

This first Tuesday night in September was a bonus event (because they got rained out several times). AND there was a wonderful car show as well. There was a one-man band who played and sang music that was perfect for dancing...and THESE PEOPLE KNOW HOW TO DANCE..!!

A terrible picture -- but it was getting dark...this guy put on quite a show!
Don and Bernie...a lot of women come over to ask Don to dance, so it's a good thing Bernie isn't the jealous type!
John always prided himself on being a great dancer (me -- not so much) -- so I asked one of the women (who was a wonderful dancer) if she would come over to ask John to dance. They danced to a Chuck Berry song...HE WAS THRILLED.
Bernie and I were mostly content to watch the other people who were dancing -- which gave us a chance to visit. I got to tell her (again) how much John looks forward to his Tuesday/Thursday "Don Days". She told me it's good for Don, too. Don lost his brother to Alzheimer's -- which I did not know. But it explained a lot...

  1. Wow. God bless Don for the special care, time and attention he spends with/on John, giving him something fun to look forward to, and giving you some much needed breaks! Yes, his having lost a brother to Alzheimer's explains a lot. But I'll bet he is also, just by nature, a thoughtful and compassionate man.

The dancing looked like fun! We can't dance any more (used to square and round dance) because of balance issues and bad joints in varying combinations; we really miss it!
