Princeton Library

My friend Sue is excited about having her two grandchildren (from North Carolina) spending two weeks at her house. When she asked me about some ideas for things to do in the area -- of course, I sent her my 2018 Grandma Camp list of local activities. And I said -- CHECK OUT THE LIBRARY WEBSITES. They ALWAYS have fun activities, and the age appropriateness is usually spelled out.

One of my Go-To places is the little satellite library in Princeton, Iowa.

It served as the Farmer's Savings Bank for the first 100 years of it's life...

The kids went there on the Saturday before Father's Day to make cards...
Our librarian, Dawn, does a great job of collecting things for them to cut and paste and color with.
Warren soon considered himself DONE...and moved on to his favorite things -- their GIANT LEGOS.
Lilly stuck with her card-making. She wrote out cards for her father, Grandfather, and Uncle Ross. She knew my brother Calvin was coming to the party, so she made a card for him as well.
Dawn is the PERFECT person for this job -- and her daughter Mandy is always ready to help the kids out, too.
Examples of other summer library activities: Birds of Prey event at the Eastern Branch of the Davenport Library; Where the Wild Things Are art-print event at the Bettendorf library; A Children's Magician at the Bettendorf Library; Make Slime event at the Eldridge library; Cupcake event; Bead-making; Lego competitions; Puzzle Days;...well, you get the idea!!

I just want to say THANK YOU to all the librarians in the world who make such an effort to bring fun educational activities to the children in their communities.  YOU ROCK...for sure!!
