The Splendid Sampler™

The Splendid Sampler™ Wednesday

BECAUSE THIS IS MY NEW, REGULAR EVERY-WEDNESDAY-POST...I think I'll just reprint, or repeat this first part...which I know you know skip this part if you're not new here...
The Splendid Sampler™ is an internet sew-a-long created by Pat Sloan and Jane Davidson. It is an EPIC sew along...
  • 83 fabric designers have created specific blocks that feature different quilting techniques. (paper piecing, fused applique, etc.).
  • The blocks will be released each week, and are FREE to participants until March 2017. (at that time, they'll use the designs to publish a book).
  • You can use whatever fabric you like.
  • There will be pictures on their Facebook page, etc.
The new block designs come out twice a week....on Sunday morning and Thursday morning. Last Sunday, I got a dozen emails from my sewing posse...they were checking the website, and Facebook, and eagerly awaiting the NEXT new block. IT IS SO EXCITING!!

If you're not doing this -- YOU SHOULD BE.  AND IT'S NOT TOO LATE!!  Really...just START TODAY, do the next block that comes up, and you can catch up as we go along.

LP and Sandy are still KILLING IT...they look for each new block, and have it done before the end of the day. They keep their fabric selections on an Excel spreadsheet...

and their finished blocks are all P's. Pristine, Perfect, Pretty and Punctual.
Linda P is doing TWO versions of each block...
yes...she is the official over-achiever...
Still attaching each block to the printed pattern, Sandy is our Excel Spreadsheet sewist...

LK. and I have a different approach.  We are the L girls.... Late, Lop-sided, Limited and Lackadaisical...But we are both VERY proud of our efforts so far...
My blocks, using Mary Mulari's Church Ladie's Apron fabric... a group, they don't look half bad...photographed from a distance, of course!!

We are all learning SO MUCH NEW STUFF. I can't tell you how much fun this is. Maybe because we are all pretty much quilt all feels very magical to us.

We read the wonderful tutorial information, watch YouTube videos to figure out the techniques, and we can hardly wait to share our new blocks each week.

GREAT JOB, SPLENDID SAMPLER DESIGNERS. I can imagine how much work went into the planning of this gigantic sew-along...

and if you're not doing it -- YOU SHOULD START. RIGHT NOW!!
