March 17, 2017, Part III

Sorry -- these blog posts published OUT OF ORDER..!!   When I started to write about our trip to NYC, I thought each day would be one post...HA!!  Imagine how LONG THAT POST WOULD BE!!  It is so much fun to relive it, and I am trying to write it all down so I CAN LOOK BACK...

**************

So, even though you already read about how we started our Saturday morning -- this post is about how we ended St. Patrick's Day...after our quick tour of Grand Central Terminal....

We had to rush back to the hotel to meet TOT (The Other Three) at 4:30. We barely had time to eat some Aunt Annie's pretzels on our way...

Because the NEXT BIG THING on this day is....drumroll....on March 17 -- at 5:30 -- we have tickets to the PREMIERE SHOWING of the new movie, Beauty and the Beast.
We were all very excited about seeing the movie. I purchased the tickets online a month earlier -- at the AMC Theater way up on 86th Street. Even though there was a theater on the same block as our hotel...why are we going all the way up there??
BECAUSE THIS THEATER HAS RECLINER SEATING!!
The movie was 3-D. AND IT WAS AMAZING...
The theater itself was quite spectacular. Even though we were SO LATE arriving, we didn't end up sitting in the exact recliners I'd reserved a month earlier (the show was sold out).  But, eventually, the five of us all found seats...
After the movie, we got back on the subway...
We're getting pretty good at this, eh? AND THE MOVIE WAS WONDERFUL...

TOT had eaten right before the movie, but Lilly and I were hungry...

We took the subway down to 50th Street -- hoping against hope that we would be able to get into Ellen's Stardust Diner.  No such luck...still a line out the door and around the block.
We walked to the Hotel Edison. There used to be a charming old fashioned diner in the lobby. But it's gone now, and the new tenants aren't open for business...
So, we sat in the iconic lobby for awhile....to go over our FIRST BIG DAY IN NEW YORK CITY.
We had packed a lot into a single day...  And we both loved the movie!!
What I loved about Beauty and the Beast was that Belle loved to READ BOOKS. And she didn't want to marry the handsome, shallow prince, even though all the other girls did. Lilly said, "she fell in love with the Beast because he had a library full of books". And how could THAT guy be anything but good inside? Belle was brave, and she marched to her own drummer. THAT was a great conversation to have with my 8 year old granddaughter...sitting in the beautiful Art Deco lobby of the Edison Hotel in NEW YORK CITY.
I took Lilly's picture in front or this mural...we're on our way back to the Westway Diner on 9th Avenue...
I had the spinach pie, Lilly ate breakfast (for the second time that day) -- and we shared this fabulous German Chocolate Cake. It was the perfect ending to our most perfect day...
On that day -- March 17, 2017...there may have been somebody, somewhere, having a better time than me. But I can't imagine who or where.
