Monday Laundry Room Reno

So, here's this week's progress report on my laundry room reno. I've been working away -- bit by bit -- one square foot at a time...
John built this huge folding table -- 4' square...but everything that got stuffed in those shelves STAYED there...
So, I cleared out every square inch...and actually ORGANIZED the stuff that was lost in this black hole. (turns out, we have 11 tubes of unopened construction adhesive)
You can see the table in question...and -- look -- THERE'S A RUG NOW...
This is a side shot of my laundry back splash. I hung a zebra shower curtain...
I pinned some of my best t-shirts to the shower curtain. Yes, I know -- genius...
Really...it makes me smile every time I put in a load of clothes...
My progress was slightly delayed this week when the snow started melting off the roof. Before we knew it, there was water coming in on the south side of the basement....so John had to start a bucket brigade under the eaves. He lined up a row of 12 buckets along the side of the house...and it was all he could do to keep up with emptying those buckets. ugh.

Although, John emptying buckets shouldn't really have impeded my progress..But -- what if he had fallen and couldn't get up?? I needed to be vigilant and available.Who are we kidding? ANY excuse will do if it will help me to NOT clean my basement...

For example -- next week might be the week I need to finish reading War and Peace...

Or -- I could spend a couple of hours watching YouTube videos about how to do that complicated hair braiding  -- just in case Mary gets serious about this new look...
That word, translated, means, "It's been a long winter in Minnesota"...

  1. This is the only way I'll ever have braids! Just to clear up the meaning of the word "Laskiainen"...it's the word for a pre-Lenten Finnish sliding festival that takes place every year in Palo, MN at the community center which used to be the school I attended through 8th grade. I would never have guessed that our frequent hot lunch meal at school (pea soup with ham) would become gourmet food at the festival.

  2. Regarding the translation, Mary...that's what I said, right?
