Of course, the very best part of the holidays is that it's a good excuse to get together with your friends and family! These are my two high school friends, Barb and Sue. OH MY GOD....how long ago was that??
It's always shocking when we sit down and start talking about our GRANDCHILDREN...
gheesh...nobody ever thinks it's going to happen to them, y'know??
|
Barb, on the left, is married to a farmer. They still live on the farm. Sue, right, raised her two kids in town, but after her husband retired, they moved back to the family farm. |
|
The last time we got together (August?) -- Barb brought eight pair of her husband's jeans to be repaired... |
|
I DID AN AMAZING JOB...mostly...and I was returning the mended pairs... |
|
There were two pair that could not be saved (in a conventional way) -- so I asked her permission to go crazy. Because if you can't HIDE the rip or tear -- it's best to bring attention to it...Barb said no thanks. Her husband would not be interested in wearing jeans with an obvious hot pink or zebra striped patch on them... |
|
Too bad...because THAT KIND OF MENDING really gets my heart racing!! |
Here's the thing. I was happy to mend the jeans, but that really was not the point. If you have a Barb or a Sue in your life -- CALL THEM RIGHT NOW. There
is nothing more pleasurable and nurturing than a visit with an old friend. Someone who
has been there for decades...who knows what you've been through, and how
you got to this place...
