Auction HOW TO'S...

Here's a link to a "How To Bid" at an online auction...

https://www.doslandauctionservice.com/how-to-bid-on-items/

The auction ends tomorrow night -- but there's still plenty of time for you to check out the treasures formerly-owned-by-me...Dosland Auction

AND -- if your stuff will be shipped -- I'm sending you a FREE GIFT....

So -- what's in this mystery box of goodies?

As I've been digging out from under all my treasure -- I discovered many things that were too good to throw away but not important enough to be sent to the auction...so I started putting them all in a box, thinking they could be your "free gift"
Ashley did a great pretend-to-be-excited pose about the idea of including a "thank you for bidding" gift in the final shipments.
There are some Ya Ya booklets, some Schmetz luggage tags, ABC Needle Guides, bookmarks, free patterns I used as handouts during seminars...(remember when Kinko's was a thing?)
I found a bundle of bookmarks (from 1996),,,and, hey -- Life is STILL not a Dress Size.
I found a small bundle of Schmetz Luggage tags -- and they are GREAT to put on your suitcases, Featherweight cases, etc.  You could get one of these!
A few lucky bidders will get a Midwest Ya Ya Sister booklets...chock full of excellent quick gift ideas!
I can't remember why or how this happened -- but I found five Ya Ya CD's -- with some original embroidery designs.  If you don't have an embroidery machine, give it to a friend -- or feel free to THROW IT AWAY...

Somebody PLEASE Finish This!!

I've had a few questions about the auction:

  • You can start a watch list...
  • If you bid on an item, you'll receive updates....
  • Everything starts at $1.00.  So, if there's something you're interested in -- bid $1 -- and you'll get notices if an when there are other bidders.
  • YOU CAN LEAVE a max bid -- say, for example, you decide you are willing to pay $20 for a Hudson Bay Blanket (a bargain, believe me!) -- you can leave a $20 Max bid.  Which means, as other people bid, you are automatically "in" (at $1 increments) until your max bid is met.  So -- you might still end up "winning" that item for much less -- depending on the interest of other bidders.
  • 80% of the bidding happens in the last several hours -- so the MAX bid system will help to make sure you get in on the action.

FUN, EH??

Also -- some items have several photos -- just click on the arrow.  And most items have a description, or additional information, under the "details" -- which you also have to click on...

********

Because I had a few extra days -- I FOUND even more stuff to be added to the sale.

Like -- what's inside this pizza box that's been living in my basement for the last 5 years....?

Hundreds (maybe thousands) of cut pieces, waiting to be put together.

For a double wedding ring quilt -- right?

I am not a quilter.

BUT I remember the exact moment I found this treasure trove of bits and pieces...I just KNEW I would have a blast putting these pieces together in a finished quilt.
There are many individual pieces, and many "pairs"
there are also many half-circles already sewn together (9 pieces joined)
I wonder about the woman who painstakingly cut all these little pieces of fabric...and then, started to sew them together...
I wanted to finish it for her...but life got in the way.

I can only take so much stuff to the new place. And this is a great opportunity for me to pass this treasure trove on to somebody who has more skills than me....and will really do it justice.

It is item #391 on the auction -- and the picture they have REALLY doesn't do it justice!!

PLEASE -- somebody buy this fabulous UFO -- and let me know what happens!!

MORE AUCTION Treasures..

AND -- as I was packing up the final tub of treasure to be added to the Art of Homemaking Auction -- I decided to add these items.  Although they didn't make the trip in July -- I am much further along in my downsizing project -- and I realize they aren't gonna go to our new house...

This is a complete set of Geist sewing machine attachments -- in the original velvet-lined tin box.

Item #406

A cross-stitch sampler...with the thread, the printed linen, and even a frame for it to go in.

Hardcover book.  I LOVED collecting these...

A vintage Westinghouse/New Home Buttonholer -- with many templates...Original Instruction Booklet!  (Item #406)

It comes with THE ORIGINAL INSTRUCTION BOOKLET.

Then, this extraordinary child's criss-cross apron!
The blue isn't an applique -- it's a fabric dye -- done with a resist...(Item #399)
Also, a white cotton shower curtain with chenille flowers....
It has a yellow flower rug to match -- and I used to have a large yellow flower painted in the corner of the bathroom to match.  The shower curtain and rug are Item #400

The Singer Featherweight!!

There was one scarry moment -- when I realized the Featherweight wasn't listed in the auction.  Since my initial pick up happened in July, I told the crew that the Featherweight should NOT sit inside the truck for the next two months.  They told me not to worry -- they'd put it "in the office".

Fast forward...3 months later....the linens have been photographed...but there's no mention of the FW.

Curtis couldn't find it.  Then, he called and asked, "is the sewing machine we're looking for called a Domestic?"

I said, "Hell no..."

Then I told him to look in the office...

AND IT WAS FOUND.  Hopefully, by the time you're reading this -- they will have it photographed and uploaded.

Here are the pictures I took before she was transported to the auction house...

************

The Featherweight being sold at the auction is Serial Number AL 166806 -- which means she was manufactured in Elizabethport, New Jersey in December 1952.

And she's a Beauty...

The gold decals are in perfect condition.
It has a new LED bulb...
It's original case and foot pedal, in perfect condition...
No iron rot on the bottom...clean as a whistle...

This Featherweight was professionally serviced by my favorite sewing-machine-guy, Mike Holliday in Clinton, Iowa.

 And SHE IS A BEAUTY...

I am including an original Singer Featherweight instruction book.

Along with the usual attachments. AND a ruffler!!

AND a nice assortment of Schmetz Needles.

The original bobbin case (OF COURSE)...

Deena never got around to naming this one...so that will be up to you. Because she was born in 1952, (the Featherweight, not Deena) she has the seam markings on the needle plate.

Fabric Panels!!

The Dosland Auction Company is still unable to access the internet platform.

But the good news is this has given me a little extra time to add a few more things to the auction.

Yes, as unbelievable as it seems -- I found STILL MORE STUFF....

As Carrie was working away upstairs -- I discovered these wonderful fabric panels...

I loved making those soft books for toddlers...

The instructions are printed right on the panel...

I also LOVED the words in this "Sisters" panel from the Block Party.

And, I bought a pink Grandchild panel...(also from the Block Party)

Anybody with a fabric stash??

A second "soft book"

This one tells the classic story of Peter Rabbit

I loved this panel...

This is the prayer we said every night.
