Road Trip #2: Dubuque, Iowa

Everybody knows a good Road Trip starts with ROAD FOOD. We are living in a time when CONVENIENCE STORES RULE.

In our area, we benefit from the serious competition between two different chains -- Casey's (an Iowa chain) and Kwik-Star (a Wisconsin chain).
We have landed squarely in the Kwik-Star camp!!
Clean as a whistle -- fresh, hot food, delicious doughnuts, 99-cents for a dozen eggs, 39-cent per pound for bananas, potatoes and onions, $1.99 for a pound of butter. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? WHAT'S NOT TO LOVE??
After we had our breakfast sandwiches (and doughnuts) situated in our laps -- we got ON THE ROAD.

I asked my official cellphone/Google map/navigator (Lilly) -- to plug in Ëagle Point Park in Dubuque for our destination.

Before we started to plan this Road Trip -- I didn't even know there was an Eagle Point Park in Dubuque.  Since we just visited the one in Clinton -- I figured it would be fun to compare the two different Eagle Point Parks...

Our Google Girl said we would arrive in Dubuque in one hour and 15 minutes...PEERFECT...
Lilly took this picture (with my new phone)
It costs $1 per car to enter.  No problem....
This Eagle Point Park has MANY STUNNING BUILDINGS.
Along with the same STUNNING VIEWS of the Mississippi River
In 1939, the Park Manager was a big fan of Frank Lloyd Wright
And many of the improvements made at that time were influenced by his architectural style.

  1. The only convenience stores in the PNW are 7-11s, and they can best be described as seedy. In Hawaii, they are the ABC stores. Those are fun!
