Lillian recently "graduated" from Pre-School -- and it was quite the production. Of course, this wasn't done when my boys were this age...Pre-School was an optional thing way back then...and nobody would have considered an actual "Graduation Ceremony"...
But, I get it. That was then...and this is now...
Lilly was delighted to see her teacher... |
All the kids lined up in the hallway...Lilly is the third little girl...LOVING her cap and gown... |
As every child walked across the stage, they received an "award". Lillan received the "Artistic" Award... |
Lillian did this "selfie". When we were eating supper, she said she had to save up room for the cookies and Kool Aid... |
In between all the Cookie eating and Kool Aid drinking -- she played with the other kids, especially her friend Jayda... |
Here's the thing that struck me about this Pre-School ceremony. Every single kid got a very specific award. And I have no idea how they did it. There were a LOT OF KIDS...and I don't remember all of them...but here's a sampling...
Artistic Award, Creative Award, Biggest Smile, Best attitude, Most Helpful, The Friend to Everybody, Good Listener, Pays Attention Award, Gives-Wonderful-Hugs, Always-Tries-Hard, Kindness Award...well-- you get the drift, I'm sure.
And isn't that a wonderful way to start your school journey?? Every single child walked on to the stage, in an important blue robe, with a supportive audience clapping for them, and they got a handshake (or a hug) from their teacher who presented him/her with an award selected just for them....that celebrated something they specifically did RIGHT...
Maybe this is the way it works at all Pre-Schools nowadays. I wish it was the way life worked...Good job, ya'll...
