Mary was in town -- it was Saturday -- and Bert and I had TWO auctions planned for that day. Although jam packed with lots of fun stuff -- the three of us didn't actually buy anything at the auctions. So -- with some time left -- we went to our favorite antique mall in Fulton, Illinois.
Right inside the door, we find THIS 100 year old treasure...can you see what it is?
The black on black embroidery is amazing... |
But you can't really see what it is until Mary actually tries it on!! A stunning wool and silk cloak... |
Bert found a stash of detachable collars. I always thought THIS would be a great accessory to revive... |
Some of the embellishments are amazing... |
Mary also found a nice stash of vintage handkerchiefs... |
But the BIGGEST TREASURE OF THE DAY -- was a huge box of iron-on patterns and projects. Do you remember these things??
As we carefully unfolded one pattern after another -- we found some Sunbonnet Sue projects, some baby toy patterns, |
Some stamped-on embroidery designs, lilacs, butterflies, flowers to applique... |
One of our favorite things -- SEVEN DAYS A WEEK dishtowel designs!! |
Monday is ALWAYS wash day...this design set had an ironing day, and a mending day... |
Written backwards, there is a marketing day, and a baking day... |
You just NEVER KNOW what you're going to find...and -- hey -- ISN'T THAT THE WHOLE POINT of a treasure hunt??
