The Splendid Sampler™

The Splendid Sampler™ Wednesday

BECAUSE THIS IS MY NEW, REGULAR EVERY-WEDNESDAY-POST...I think I'll just reprint, or repeat this first part...which I know you know already...so skip this part if you're not new here...
The Splendid Sampler™ is an internet sew-a-long created by Pat Sloan and Jane Davidson. It is an EPIC sew along...
  • 83 fabric designers have created specific blocks that feature different quilting techniques. (paper piecing, fused applique, etc.).
  • The blocks will be released each week, and are FREE to participants until March 2017. (at that time, they'll use the designs to publish a book).
  • You can use whatever fabric you like.
  • There will be pictures on their Facebook page, etc.
The new block designs come out twice a week....on Sunday morning and Thursday morning.

The TMBC had a day trip to Peoria. WHICH WAS AMAZING...And, of course, nowadays -- our sew and tell Splendid Sampler™ blocks are a part of our weekly get-togethers.
Linda brought her most recent blocks with her -- so we got to see them at lunch time...
Remember, she makes TWO of every block...
Sandy left her "file" in the car -- so her sharing didn't happen until we got back to the parking garage...
Linda laid out all her samples on the hood of the van...(wow, I take some crappy pictures!)
LK and I needed to play a little catch-up with our two SUPER STAR quilters. We were in need of a little mentoring...so we headed down to Judy's house. She has an ACTUAL SEWING STUDIO...and is the best teacher I know.
Judy can make any block look simple...and SQUARING it all up makes a huge difference.
Also true with the IRONing...here's Linda, working on Block #3, the pieced heart...
I took my Featherweight...
WE WERE SO PLEASED with ourselves!!
Linda went home and made A SECOND BLOCK
Her blocks so far...GREAT JOB, Linda (she is loving Mary Mulari's fabric, too!)
I made the cottage block, using the selvage edge and fussy-cutting a flower for the window. It is KINDA the way this block was supposed to look...lol...
