VOTE FOR CHAD PREGRACKE

I got a couple of emails from people wondering why I was posting my Chad Pregracke is a hero message again. Here's the thing. This young man is from Pleasant Valley, Iowa and he started picking up litter in the Mississippi River when he was a boy, fishing and boating with his dad. At the ripe old age of 23 -- he had created a foundation and had some big companies giving him grants -- Alcoa being the first.

As unbelievable as it may seem -- cleaning up the river really was NOBODY'S JOB. Chad Pregracke took it on -- having no idea what he was getting himself into. His foundation, "Living Land and Waters" is a vibrant organization of volunteers who have cleared thousands of miles of filfthy rivers. You would not believe the garbage they remove from the rivers...bowling balls, water heaters, old air conditioners, houses and CARS -- debris washed away by floods -- as well as all the trash deliberately left by ignorant people trying save a landfill fee. The trash fills up BARGES every week -- and they recycle all they can, sell off the metal bits, and properly dispose of the rest. The major fund-raiser is a dinner/auction at the end of the summer -- and people are encouraged to create art pieces from the dinner. LL&W is a non-profit charity.  Chad is still out on the river, every day, in his  big rubber boots, picking up the garbage.  If he were to win the CNN Hero of the Year -- Living Land and Waters would get $250,000....
