Grammy's, Katie Perry

Did you watch the Grammy's? It was a really great show. I loved Beyonce's pants suit and the music from the band Fun is amazing. Carrie Underwood's "is it a dress or is it a light show" blew me away. This is always the BEST awards show to see what the real "artists" are wearing...and I was IN LOVE with Katie Perry's dress. That girl is GORGEOUS. And I loved that she had the guts to WEAR GREEN!! She is a stunningly beautiful girl -- and that dress looked fabulous on her. I loved, loved, loved the elaborate jeweled neckline...and I thought that dress was a perfect reflection of Katie Perry and everything THE GRAMMY'S stand for.

So -- how can it be that she was universally panned by every single "style" or "fashion" television talk show?? This dress has hit a new HIGH when it comes to being voted onto somebody's "WORST" dressed list...

Really?? Because I think this dress should have been the hit of the night!

It feels like nobody has any backbone. One person says it sucks -- and everybody else just agrees because they are afraid to have a different opinion...

COWARDS I SAY...Katy Perry -- YOU LOOKED AMAZING....AND YOU WORE -- BY FAR -- THE MOST INTERESTING DRESS OF THE NIGHT...

Of course -- long dresses ARE my obsession right now...and, admittedly, I have a wacky sense of style.

As you can see from some of the dresses I posted on my Pinterest board...

Hey -- this looks like fun...

Did you see Beyonce's sleeves?? I think I could do that on my next maxi dress...

Princeton Players

No doubt you get sick of hearing this -- but I LOVE PRINCETON, IOWA. There are so many wonderful things happening in this little town.

Like, for example -- the Princeton Players.

Periodically, they put together a play or an entertaining event.

Last weekend, there was a TALENT SHOW...

Here I am -- sitting with a good friend of my sister Deena -- it's always like that in a small town. Either you know somebody, or somebody you know does......

The new venue for our events is the upstairs of Boll's General Store. A 100+ year old building -- it was our small general store until about ten years ago. After Merlyn Boll died, he left the building to the city. Princeton uses the main floor for a community center. The upstairs has a stage -- and in the 1920's, that space was used for roller skating and movies...

When they set up for a show -- there are probably 200+ seats...

On this night, we had local singers, some dancers, a few dancing ministers...I thought everybody was EXCELLENT.

My niece Amy had a better seat than I did -- SO I gave her my new camera.

Hoping, of course, she would do a little video of Cale playing the guitar while his friend Kegan did the singing. THEY WERE AWESOME...But you'll just have to take my word for it. Because apparently, Amy was mesmerized by their performance...

so there is no video. Darn it.

Funky Furniture

I honestly cannot remember what I used to do before Pinterest....and to think back on the day my niece Amy tried to explain it to me. I thought it made NO SENSE WHATSOEVER...lol...

But now -- I get at least ONE GOOD LAUGH every single day. I hope you get this one quicker than I did...

I have a board called Funky Furniture -- with over 500 pins on it. It's really no wonder....because there are SO MANY CREATIVE PEOPLE OUT THERE....notice the buttons??

Who knew you could do this??

And I thought of my creative friend Jeff...he is a BIG fan of all things Marilyn...

What a great, unexpected surprise, eh?? I LOVE THIS IDEA...

And I have six chairs in the basement just BEGGING for this makeover...

Oh, yeah...Pinterest is life altering....by that, I mean, a mind-numbing, time-sucking, addictive, evil elephant who has moved into my laptop...

Holiday Dinners

The very BEST thing about the holidays is that you get to spend time with your favorite people. My Uncle Melvin and his wife Kathy came over for a Sunday dinner...

Along with another one of my favorite people -- cousin Kim...

Because Kim was there -- she was able to take this great picture!

My clubbers also had several holiday get-togethers...Cousin Linda had us all over for a beautiful brunch....her table was beautiful...

Sandy with her Mom...remember the 90th birthday party they had for Caroline this year?

Linda and I were both wearing our most festive Christmas shirts. I DON'T CARE WHAT ANYBODY SAYS -- there is a time and a place, people!!

Our other member -- Linda -- with Aunt Ada (Caroline's sister and Linda's Mom -- there will be a test)...

There's no point to this blog. (keeping with my usual theme)...but as I've been looking at my December pictures it occurs to me that WE SHOULD DO THIS MORE OFTEN!!

My limited video skills

Because I am always trying to improve my skills -- and You Tube doesn't play nice with Blogger -- I am trying to embed a video I made last year during my SISTERS VISIT to Pike Place Market. If it works -- you will know it right away...

Sew Expo Dress #2

So, there I was -- at the Discovery Shop with my friend Sandy. WHAT A GREAT TOP....I love the vibrant color -- and the black trimmed ruffle is so exceptional....it's $9.00 (that's $8.75 more than I usually pay)...and a size Medium....but I MUST HAVE IT..(yes, you have to turn your head sideways to see the real beauty...I don't know why...but you can do it...just cock it over oto the left...)

Although, this green is not going to be an easy thing to match up...

I started the "dig" through my extraordinary T-SHIRT MOUNTAIN -- and I did find this sparkly lime green Tinkerbell....

Then -- there it was -- the perfect lime green shirt with ZEBRA letters that say, "Welcome to the Jungle"...

You weren't really worried, were you??

Twisted Double Axel

Lillian loves her little zebra sofa and footstool. The week after Emily got home with Warren -- she was so busy -- she asked if I could come help out. I had completely forgotten HOW MUCH WORK a newborn baby can be.

Elliott started his new gun business at the exact wrong moment in time -- and there are people coming into the house at all hours...it was CRAZY. Emily is trying to do all the government paperwork, run the chargecards...there are customers in the basement, Emily is down there, helping to load ammo...I'm upstairs, hoping the baby doesn't wake up from his nap, trying to cook some food, entertain a toddler...the phone is ringing off the wall...YIKES...

I got caught up in the rushing...and in a moment of complete inattention -- I tripped over the adorable little foam footstool. OH MY GOD...I AM GOING DOWN...I CAN'T BELIEVE IT...MY LEGS HAVE COMPLETELY GONE OUT FROM UNDER ME...THERE'S NO STOPPING IT....I AM GOING TO HIT THE CORNER OF THEIR HEAVY WOODEN COFFEE TABLE...

In the middle of my fall -- I tried to twist my body to miss the coffee table. Imagine a fat girl flying sideways through the air, doing an awkward twisted double axel.  I missed the coffee table -- but landed HARD on my side. Every ounce, every pound of me slammed down on the hardwood floor....Oh My God I'm too fat.... I was pretty sure I broke my arm...maybe I had a concussion or a subdural hematoma...the wind was completely knocked out of my lungs...and I was instantly crying...

As I was going down, I heard Lillian exclaim, "Silly Grandma!"

When I didn't get up -- she came over to where I was laying on the floor and said, "Are you okay?"

Gulping air, I gasped, "I don't think so, honey. You need to get your Mommy."

She put her angelic little face really close to mine and in a quiet voice, said,  "Grandma, the reason you came here today is because my Mommy is busy...REMEMBER?"

Oh. That's right. For just a minute, I forgot...maybe because of the blow to my head...

I went from crying to laughing...and after a few more minutes, I was able to get up. Luckily, nothing was broken.
