National Tie One On Day™

So -- what's my point? Well, I am encouraging you to participate in the "National tie One On Day" this Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving. This movement, started by the woman who wrote "The Apron Book" -- is simple. On the day before Thanksgiving, give an apron, maybe wrapped around a loaf of bread or a thoughtful gift -- to a woman who is working to prepare the family Thanksgiving. I'll be giving a vintage apron to my niece Amy, who has invited us to her house. Inside the apron, she'll find a 1944 cookbook that used to belong to her Grandmother, my mother...

It's simply meant to brighten somebody's day...whether you live in a big city or out in the country -- connect with a neighbor, acquaintance or friend who would appreciate such a simple, thoughtful gift.
